Pride month is upon us. Company logos are updated, and social media is awash in the colors of the rainbow.
At ABD, 30 days is not enough. We are proud to have a culture of respect, acceptance, and inclusion that endures 365 days a year. We have built a community where everyone feels embraced and empowered to do the best work of their lives. Policies have been in place for years that provide protection for our employees regarding gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. All employees have equivalency in benefit offerings.
But it goes much further. Our newly formed employee resource group, “emerge at ABD,” has an ambitious charter that seeks to champion a vibrant workplace and reach out in support of equal rights. The group will offer ally training for all employees, sponsor educational webinars with prominent advocates, and engage directly with the LGBTQ community.
The group has also set its sights on earning a 100% score on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.
We are a member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) and a sponsor of the IICF Inclusion in Insurance Forum, which will be held virtually June 15-17. Our chairman, Brian Hetherington, will be speaking on “Diversity and Democracy” at the event.
Earning the #5 spot in the 2021 Best Place to Work survey did not happen by accident. Our leadership team actively listens to our employees and implements initiatives that affect change. Our LGBTQ members and allies are out and proud, making a difference all day and every day.
